Finally got around to catching the frame stress analysis model up to where the design model is this evening.
The results are currently ~14.6kN – m (~10,700ft – lb) per degree which was my target from the model.
I’m not pretending that this is a definitive result, that can only be derived physical testing I would expect the reality of the frame stiffness on its own to be less than the analysis would suggest.
However I haven’t attempted to simulate the stiffening effects of the shear panels that will be riveted in or the windscreen that will be bonded in. Trying to simulate the effect of a bonded in windscreen took the stiffness to in excess of 20kN – m per degree which again I think is excessive but shows that there will be a reasonable stiffening effect from the various shear panels.
