riveted in place. \u00c2\u00a0The first of those is the windscreen wiper motor and arm arrangement.<\/p>\n<p>Previously I&#8217;d sourced a wiper motor and arm posts from a Toyota Starlet, from subsequent investigations nearly all Toyota wiper motors are the same unit. \u00c2\u00a0There&#8217;s a fast, slow and parking function in the motor with the intermittent function being dealt with by external electronics like timed relays etc.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a Toyota wiper motor, like mine but cleaner&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/images.gasgoo.com\/attachment\/Approved\/001\/429\/400_400\/001429278.jpg\" width=\"400\" height=\"291\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To get the motion ratio correct the lever distances were going to need adjustment The ball joint end is pressed into the rotating arm, after trying the arm on the car I found I needed a 90 degree sweep. \u00c2\u00a0Drawing this out in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.onshape.com\/\">OnShape<\/a> I determined the required arm radius.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/WiperStudy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-338\" src=\"https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/WiperStudy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/WiperStudy.jpg 1920w, https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/WiperStudy-420x236.jpg 420w, https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/WiperStudy-744x419.jpg 744w, https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/WiperStudy-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/WiperStudy-1200x675.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The original ball joints were pressed out and replaced with 6mm THK rod ends as per the picture below:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.thk.com\/sites\/default\/files\/images\/ja\/products\/class\/linkball\/linkball_bl_c.jpg\" width=\"160\" height=\"120\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tech.thk.com\/en\/products\/pdfs\/en_a22_012.pdf\">THK Catalogue link<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The hole in the motor lever was welded up and re drilled in the required spot, so with that all screwed together and dodgy rod bodged up to connect it all together I got the result below&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/vimeo.com\/195167042<\/p>\n<p>The wiper arm used is a modification of the one I happened to have, it&#8217;ll be replaced with new one for the real thing.<\/p>\n<p>The other thing I discovered on the way was that wiper posts come in a few standard connections, as shown below, the Toyota ones appear to be the M8 type, so I&#8217;m guessing most it should not be too hard to find a decent looking one with the correct connection type.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/store.amequipment.com\/amfiles\/images\/Motorshafts.jpg\" width=\"736\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The next item was to see if the arrangement wiped enough of the screen clean to meet the regulations. \u00c2\u00a0As far as I can determine though there is no specific coverage requirement in the Australian Design Rules, \u00c2\u00a0there is though ECE regulations\u00c2\u00a0ECE R43 for the\u00c2\u00a0Area Definition ( A &amp; B\u00c2\u00a0) \u00c2\u00a0and\u00c2\u00a0ECE R1008 for clearing % of defined areas.<\/p>\n<p>Marking those areas out on the windscreen template, I got&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_20161211_133234.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-343\" src=\"https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_20161211_133234.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"4048\" height=\"3036\" srcset=\"https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_20161211_133234.jpg 4048w, https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_20161211_133234-420x315.jpg 420w, https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_20161211_133234-744x558.jpg 744w, https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_20161211_133234-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/guerillamotive.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/IMG_20161211_133234-1200x900.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 4048px) 100vw, 4048px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>98% of area A is supposed to be cleared and 80% of area B. \u00c2\u00a0Which I think I can basically meet with a bit of work on the arm.
