August 14, 2018. Finishing the floor.

With all the pilot holes drilled the panel was then put back in place for final drilling…

Then it was all pulled apart again for de-burring and cleaning prior to glue and rivets.  Of which again there’s no pictures due to the rush in getting it done before the glue goes off.  The aluminium was roughed up with a 80 grit sanding disk before gluing.

Then to get it back the right way up…

A few tense moments and the thing was the right way up with no damage…

And back in the garage, now sitting on a dolly…

Getting on with the start of the side pods..

The screws below I’d left in on this side, these were a total pain to remove which is testament to how go the glue is, thankfully I’d taken the ones in the other side out a day or so after the gluing operation, these had sat for a few months.

More panels folded, the DIY bender is dealing easily with the 1.5mm sheet.

Started also on the lower rear firewall, this was designed to be one piece orignally which was physically impossible to fit, so it’s now in two parts that fit together in the with a castellated edge in the middle to allow riveting on to the middle tube.  These I’d had laser cut.
